Minneapolis is the home of various professional national sports teams. They include The Minnesota Timberwolves, which plays in the National Basketball League since 1989. The Minnesota Lynx has the most successful sports team in the city and a dominant force in the WNBA, reaching the WNBA Finals in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017 and winning in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017.
The Minnesota Vikings football team and the Minnesota Twins baseball team have played in the state since 1961. The Vikings were an NFL expansion team, and the Twins were formed when the Washington Senators relocated to Minnesota. The Twins have won 11 division titles, three American League Pennants, and the World Series.
The Minnesota Wild of the NHL play in St. Paul at the Xcel Energy Center. The MLS soccer team, Minnesota United FC, played the 2017 and 2018 seasons at the University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium, and they later relocated to the Allianz Field in St. Paul. Minneapolis, MN can be seen here.
This stadium was built for the Minnesota Vikings and is considered to be Minnesota’s biggest-ever public works project. The stadium has a total capacity of over 80, 000 seats as of 2018.
